Vail Daily - Letter to the Editor; Elect Nicki to do Extraordinary Things

By Judy Douglas

Former President Barack Obama once said,

"A change is brought about because ordinary people do extraordinary things."

Nicki Mills is an ordinary person, just like you and me, and someone capable of extraordinary things. She is not a career politician but, rather, a self-employed mother of two who cares about her community and would like to do her part to make it a better place to live.

If elected to the Colorado House of Representatives, Nicki is willing to dig in and address the issues that affect ordinary people in Eagle and Routt counties. These include the high cost of living, the lack of affordable housing, expensive health care, escalating taxes and protecting personal rights. She loves Colorado and is dedicated to making it the best it can be.

Nicki will bring a breath of fresh air into the local political arena. What she lacks in pure political experience she can make up with passion, boundless energy and new ways of looking at old problems … thinking out of the box. She has had local and international experience helping others and comes from a family dedicated to community service.

Nicki cares about people like you and me and will work with all other constituents and legislators (Republicans, Democrats and those who are unaffiliated) to see that we as citizens are treated equally and given a fair shake. What more can we ask?

Let's give Nicki, an ordinary person, the chance to become extraordinary. Please vote for Nicki Mills for State Representative.

Vail Daily: Letter to Editor - Elect Caring & Compassionate Person

By Craig Hanzelka

We have an opportunity this fall to elect a different kind of representative to the state legislature. Please consider voting for my friend Nicki Mills.

Nicki is one of the most caring and compassionate people I know. She has many friends with families and wants to make a difference in their lives. Several of our friends had to move away from our mountains due to the high cost of living and low incomes. I know she will focus on improving education in Eagle County and lowering the cost of health care and housing.

Nicki Mills is not a career politician. She is not a lawyer. She's a mom, she's a community volunteer, and it is second nature for her to serve others. She believes that we must do better. Nicki can do better. Nicki will do better.

Please get to know Nicki and vote for her as state representative from Eagle and Routt counties in the November election.

Nicki Supports the Second Amendment

In the recent Club 20 Debate in Grand Junction, Nicki asked her opponent about the 2nd Amendment and commented on her views. Nicki is a strong defender of the 2nd Amendment.

She has been a hunter since a young age. She learned to field dress deer and elk, and, worked as a researcher for the Department of Natural Resources in MN.

As a mom, she too is concerned about gun violence but does not believe limiting gun rights of law abiding citizens will make anyone more safe. She does want to see stronger physical safeguards in schools to protect children.

Nicki has asked for the support of gun rights organizations. She is a member of the NRA and is supported by several local gun shop owners. Nicki also knows what "AR 15" means. She knows it is merely a semi-automatic rifle like many others.
